HomeDesign space
This landscaping project aims to transform the parking area of a furniture showroom warehouse located in an industrial estate in the south of Mallorca into a garden/showroom for its outdoor furniture catalogue. A very unique space due to its small size and its location — a one-of-a-kind project that required careful planning.
The goal was to turn the parking area into a landscaped space where customers could experience first-hand what it feels like to enjoy outdoor furniture in the natural conditions of their own gardens. The challenge was to optimise the space through design in order to expand its use and enhance the overall experience.
The owner wanted to create a showroom space suitable for large-scale furniture, while also ensuring it would be very easy to maintain.
The atmosphere and zoning of the garden/showroom were designed as a replica of the interior space: several independent “rooms” that, at the same time, are understood as a complete and cohesive whole. Top-quality materials. Sober, elegant finishes, and a design that is both Mediterranean and modern.
Since the space does not benefit from scenic views (as it is located in an industrial estate), planting becomes another key design tool — an essential ingredient in the final result. In this case, Mediterranean plants predominate, and it is crucial to know them well and understand what to expect from them, because they can very simply solve a lot of problems.
Some of the roles plants play in this project include: creating filters or barriers to control unwanted views, integrating or concealing damaged walls, directing the eye towards a special focal point, dressing a seating area, or catching attention from the inside. We created green backdrops using hedge-type shrubs, separated spaces with groups of planters, and created focal points with carefully selected small trees to guide the eye towards attractive views, conceal awkward junctions, and enhance certain areas — recreating a more intimate atmosphere.
