What is lawn scarification?

Scarification involves lightly “scratching” the surface of the soil to break up and remove the build-up of roots and leaves that has accumulated over time. This scarification process should be done every year—at least once in spring.

Things to consider when scarifying a lawn

When we are going to scarify the ground, we must take several things into account:

• The soil should be moist.
• Do not scarify deeply; it is only done on the surface.
• The lawn should be cut short, around 2–3 cm.
